It’s been about a month since I last posted about the sleep problems we were having with Jane.
Since then things have gotten a little better, but not much and her sleep is still really unpredictable. I’m not surprised, because we haven’t been doing a very good job of following the advice in the No Cry Sleep Solution book.
We basically started putting her to bed earlier, feeding her a ton before bed, and hoping for the best.
You know how it is, you’re busy, you’re tired, there’s no good night to start a whole routine because everyone’s fried and you’ll just do anything to get the baby to sleep.
But, now that I’m home full time I’m ready to try this again.
Right now she goes down for the night around 7:00, (or whenever she starts looking tired – her naps are also completely unpredictable) always after crying, then getting a bottle in her swing. We move her to the crib later after she nurses in the middle of the night and is totally out.
What I want to do is get a bedtime routine down, and have her sleeping in her crib every night.
Questions for you mommies out there:
What did you do for a bedtime routine for a 6 month old?
Any tips for getting her to sleep in the crib? She always gets so worked up, flips on her tummy, kicks and kicks. One time I did let her cry for about 15 minutes in there before she fell asleep and she was on the opposite side of the crib with her head squished into the corner. I felt so bad!
I’m not opposed to the cry-it-out method if the no-cry method doesn’t seem to be making progess. Any general advice on how to best let your baby cry it out, if there is such a thing?
p.s. She started sitting last week!
