Yeah, we thought our kid was such a rockstar, a true offspring of two night owls. Two months old, going to bed between 10-11 p.m., sleeping for like 6-7 hours, waking to nurse, and then immediately sleeping for 2-3 more hours.
Then suddenly a week or so ago, she started waking up 3x per night, and not going back to sleep so easily, and it just ruined us.
I don’t do well on little sleep. Not now, not as a hard partying college kid, not as a teenager, not ever. I can’t have some caffeine and get over it, my bloodshot eyes ache all day until I can go to sleep the next night.
Turns out if you start the google search “Four months” it automatically suggests “sleep regression” as one of the top results.
Thankfully, our neighbors gave us the book The No-Cry Sleep Solution (by Elizabeth Pantley) which seems to be one of the most well regarded sleep books out there. So thankful to our neighbors, because I was way too tired to go shopping for sleep books!
We’ve made our sleep plan and now will be attempting to put Janey to bed around 7-8 p.m. like normal babies.
Bumper update – we got one of the mesh kinds and it’s working great, thanks for all the suggestions.
And, pictures! My dad sent me some from Memorial Day & the 4th of July in the same e-mail and she looks sooo little in the earlier ones:
