Nathan added this week’s pic to the progression – within the last couple weeks my tummy has taken on a definite triangular shape:
So I’m sitting here at a quarter to 7 on a Friday night, trying to keep my spirits up. Nathan left about an hour ago for a guy’s poker weekend, so I’m alone and haven’t talked to a single person about hanging out tonight.
The thing is, it seems like we have a lot of friends. There are a few couples/people we hang out with very regularly, who are like second family, who we see on almost a weekly basis.
Then of course there are friends who we don’t see as often, but would definitely be invited to any large gathering, and a bunch of people who are friends of friends who we really like but probably wouldn’t call to hang out with alone, etc., etc.
Point is, there is usually no lack of socialness in our lives.
But lately something does seem to be lacking. It’s like the enthusiasm for doing fun stuff has declined, across the board.
More and more often people seem to be content staying home on the weekends. If we think of something fun to do and make the phone calls, we can usually get a group together and it ends up being tons of fun.
But then there are nights like tonight, where I’m not quite motivated to be the planner, but still hoping to get a phone call from someone saying “oh, let’s go to this awesome event” or “let’s go to the regular dive and play some pool, come on, it’ll be really fun!” or even “hey I’m depressed and bored, come over and let’s drink wine and watch bad tv”.
My arm really doesn’t ever need to be twisted to go out and do something.
Am I expecting too much? Do married (even pregnant!) people around age 30 not usually go out every Friday and Saturday night, plus at least once during the week?
If not, what do you do every night? I’m really curious!
p.s. I don’t think many of my real life friends read this blog regularly, but if you do, I love you and in no way meant to offend with this post, it’s just how I’m feeling right now and please don’t take it personally! And if you do, call me and give me a piece of your mind, ok?!
